The Soundbath Experience

Lie down. Close your eyes. Let the sound carry you.

A soundbath isn't something you do. It's something that happens to you. An hour where nothing is asked, nothing is performed — just the slow unfolding of crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, koshi chimes and ocean drum, layered live, moving through the body in waves.

We hold community soundbaths in Guildford and across Surrey, alongside private sessions for groups, gifts, and one-to-ones.

What it is

You arrive. You're handed a blanket, a bolster, an eye pillow. You lie down. The lights soften. The room settles.

And then the sound begins — sometimes full, sometimes almost silent, never rushed. You don't have to focus, breathe a certain way, or get anything right. Most people drift. Some fall asleep. Some cry without quite knowing why. Most leave feeling like the day has been quietly rearranged.

There's no right way to receive it

The instruments

Crystal singing bowls. Tibetan bowls. Koshi chimes. Ocean drum.

Each one carries a different frequency, a different weight, a different colour of sound. Played together, they create the layered, slow-moving field that defines a soundbath — the kind of sound you don't just hear, but feel settle into the chest, the jaw, the spine.

Who it's for

Anyone drawn to sound, stillness, or the rare feeling of being fully held. Aqua sound is particularly suited to those carrying physical tension, sleep loss, burnout, grief — or anyone who has tried meditation and found it slips through their fingers.

You don't need to swim. You don't get wet. You simply lie down, and the water does the rest.

What to bring, What to expect

  • Sessions run around 60 -75 minutes
  • Wear soft, comfortable clothing — something you'd happily lie still in
  • We usually provide mats, blankets, bolsters and eye pillows - feel free to bring your own comfort items
  • Arrive 10 minutes early — once the bowls begin, late arrivals can't be admitted

Where we hold them

Questions, Gently answered

Is this the same as meditation?

Not quite. You don't have to focus, breathe a particular way, or quiet your mind. The sound does the settling for you.

Can I fall asleep?

Often. Your body still receives the sound — sometimes more deeply when the mind lets go.

What should I wear?

Soft, comfortable clothing. Something you can lie still in for an hour. Layers are a good idea.

I've never done one before.

Most of the room hasn't either. There's nothing to prepare, nothing to know in advance.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Often yes if you are still mobile and happy to lay on your side, but please check with us and your midwife or GP before booking.

Can I book a private session for a group?

Yes. Birthdays, hen parties, team offsites, retreats, gatherings of any kind — tell us what you're imagining.
