THE FLOATING SOUNDBATH

Float. Surrender. A soundbath received on water

UPCOMING EVENTS

What are floating soundbaths?

You lie fully clothed on a mattress that rests on the surface of the water - no swimming, no submersion, just the gentle suspension of being held by something other than the ground.

The water takes the weight of the body. The sound takes everything else.

A woman in a black swimsuit lies on a white lounge bed in an indoor pool area, with another person visible in the background near a tiled pool edge.

Why floating changes everything

Something shifts when the floor disappears. Without solid ground beneath you, the body softens in a way it rarely does on a mat. Every small movement of the water becomes a kind of rocking — slow, involuntary, deeply regulating.

And then the sound arrives. Crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, koshi chimes — held live, moving through the air and across the surface of the water. The vibrations meet a body that has nowhere left to brace. Most people describe aqua sound as the deepest stillness they've ever known. A few describe it as the first time they've truly let go.

Who it's for

Anyone drawn to sound, stillness, or the rare feeling of being fully held. Aqua sound is particularly suited to those carrying physical tension, sleep loss, burnout, grief — or anyone who has tried meditation and found it slips through their fingers.

You don't need to swim. You simply lie down, and the water does the rest.

What to bring, What to expect

  • Sessions run around 60 -75 minutes

  • Wear soft, comfortable clothing - something you'd happily lie still in

  • You'll lie fully clothed on a floating mattress, held gently on the surface of the water (please wear light clothing, shorts ideally)

  • You are welcome to bring an  eye pillow and lightweight blanket or towel.

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to soften into the space and get onto the float

  • Your legs might get a little wet as you embark onto the float.

Where we hold them

Aqua sound takes place at select pool venues in and around Guildford and Surrey. Spaces are limited and tend to fill quickly — the waitlist is often the gentlest way in.

Questions, Gently answered

Do i get wet?

Generally no. You stay fully clothed and lie on a floating mattress on the surface of the water. Your legs will likely get a little wet as you embark onto the mattress

Do i need to swim?

No. You're not in the water - you are held above it.

What should I wear?

Soft, comfortable clothing. Something you can lie still in for an hour. Ideally light clothing and shorts will be ideal.

What if I'm nervous about water?

Tell us when you book. The mattress is stable and supportive, and we'll talk you through it before the session begins. we usually have an assistant in the water with you for the duration of the session.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Often yes if you are still mobile and happy to lay on your side, but please check with us and confirm with your midwife or GP before booking. It is not however recommended within the first trimester.

How is this different from a regular soundbath?

The instruments and intention are the same — but floating removes the last bit of effort the body holds onto. It's softer. Deeper. Held in a way a mat can't quite match
